But even though medicine was improving, and railroads, telephones and steamships were being developed, there was a huge interest in mysticism.\u00a0 Everybody from Queen Victoria to the editors of <em>Scientific American <\/em>were fascinated with the spiritual world.<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Sir Winston Churchill\u2019s spiritual advisor of choice was a palmist.\u00a0 Mrs. Charlotte Robinson. She told England\u2019s most infamous novelist\u00a0at the time, Oscar Wilde (who had written only one book\u00a0<em>The Picture of Dorian Gray <\/em>prior to seeing her) that he would \u201cwrite four plays \u00a0and then you will disappear. I cannot see you at all.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4143\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4143\" style=\"width: 208px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4143\" src=\"http:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Unknown.jpeg\" width=\"208\" height=\"159\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Unknown.jpeg 257w, https:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Unknown-16x12.jpeg 16w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 208px) 100vw, 208px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4143\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Oscar Wilde TheAmericanReader.com<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After this premonition, he wrote\u00a0four\u00a0comedies.\u00a0<em>Lady Windermere\u2019s Fan<\/em>,<em>\u00a0A Woman of No Importance<\/em>,\u00a0<em>An Ideal Husband<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>The Importance of Being Earnest.<\/em>\u00a0All were huge successes. After the release of his 4<sup>th<\/sup> play, he was arrested for \u201cgross indecency\u201d for being openly gay and sentenced to a couple of years in prison.\u00a0 He died three years later without writing another play. \u00a0Needless to say, Robinson became famous.<\/p>\n<p>Could she really predict the future? Robert Ascroft was a strong and healthy young man when he got\u00a0pneumonia. He\u00a0died six days later, less than a month before the election. The Conservative party needed a candidate and Churchill was ready.\u00a0 He wrote to his mother \u201cThere is no doubt that if anyone can win, I can.\u201d And he did.\u00a0 His confidence and positive thinking about the outcome might have had a little help from the \u201cunknown.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We might never understand how anyone has the ability to \u201cknow\u201d something, but they do, we do, and I do. \u00a0Don\u2019t discount the known because it is \u201cunknown.\u201d It might prove helpful to you someday.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Victorian era was known for their scientific progress.
