That I survived to get to spend another day with my family was miraculous. \u00a0That I could conjure up the strength to write my experience in a book was nothing short of astonishing. \u00a0That it would become as well received as it is becoming, unfathomable.<\/p>\n<p>I have said it before and I will say it again, this entire experience has changed me. I wrote the book for many reasons. \u00a0The first and foremost was admittedly for\u00a0a selfish one. \u00a0I wanted to feel better. Every time I wrote in my blog or told someone my story, a little bit of the pain would release itself and I would feel lighter. \u00a0But what started out as a selfish motivation turned into an overwhelming need to help others. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/StephArnold37\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-1837 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/alexis-carena-tweet.png?w=300\" alt=\"Alexis Carena Tweet\" width=\"300\" height=\"149\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/alexis-carena-tweet.png 424w, https:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/alexis-carena-tweet-300x149.png 300w, https:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/alexis-carena-tweet-18x9.png 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>My blog was reaching people I had never met, and my words were touching lives of those I had never seen.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/StephArnold37\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1841 size-medium alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/mo-fitzgibbons-fb-comment1.png?w=300\" alt=\"Mo Fitzgibbons FB Comment\" width=\"300\" height=\"198\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/mo-fitzgibbons-fb-comment1.png 453w, https:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/mo-fitzgibbons-fb-comment1-300x198.png 300w, https:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/mo-fitzgibbons-fb-comment1-18x12.png 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Was it possible that some of\u00a0the things I learned from my experience would penetrate others and help on a greater level? \u00a0And that maybe my lessons weren&#8217;t just MY lessons and they\u00a0could possibly resonate with others? \u00a0I was nervous about putting us all out there, but from what I am seeing from people who are direct messaging me, that is exactly what is happening. I underestimated the impact it\u00a0would have on both of our lives.<\/p>\n<p>I didn&#8217;t think the book would resonate with many out of the gate. \u00a0I am doing my best to balance getting back to everyone in a timely fashion and spending quality time with my family. \u00a0I know I cannot convey the pain and process it took to complete this book in 2 minutes on television. The coverage has been great, but I would have liked to go into depth about those moments I felt before and after I died. \u00a0But, like people are telling me, that is what <a href=\"http:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/es\/\">the book<\/a>\u00a0is for.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1830\" src=\"http:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/scars-closeup.png\" alt=\"Scars closeup\" width=\"255\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/scars-closeup.png 255w, https:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/scars-closeup-15x12.png 15w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 255px) 100vw, 255px\" \/>Please know, not a day goes by that I don&#8217;t appreciate the fact that I am above ground. That I am coherent enough to put more than 2 words together. \u00a0That I am dealing with minor neurological issues. \u00a0That my son is healthy. \u00a0That the ugly scars\u00a0<span style=\"color:#000000;\">a<\/span>round my body are only aesthetic with a twinge of pain and they are only a visual reminder of the trauma I&#8217;ve been through. \u00a0My husband sees them and with tears in his eyes, tells me he still thinks I look beautiful. \u00a0I wish I had his eyes. \u00a0I wish I could hide the tears from my face when all three of my children ask &#8220;Mommy, when will your boo boo go away?&#8221; \u00a0I wish I had a better answer for them than &#8220;in time.&#8221; \u00a0Time seems to not affect a 2 and 4 year old&#8217;s mind. \u00a0They just want to know &#8220;how many sleeps until they go to Disney World?&#8221; \u00a0I don&#8217;t know how many sleeps to tell them it will take for the markings to fade. \u00a0And how long until the internal scars heal. We can only do our best every day. \u00a0And every day, EVERY day, we say a prayer thanking G-d\u00a0for helping us to remain a family. \u00a0Many others &#8212; too many others &#8212; are not as fortunate. \u00a0It is getting better and writing <em><a href=\"http:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/es\/\">37 Seconds<\/a><\/em><span style=\"color:#ff6600;\">\u00a0<\/span>has been my salvation.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1855\" src=\"http:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/the-doctors-cropped.png?w=300\" alt=\"The Doctors cropped\" width=\"300\" height=\"210\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/the-doctors-cropped.png 445w, https:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/the-doctors-cropped-300x210.png 300w, https:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/the-doctors-cropped-18x12.png 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>I wanted to convey that in this book. \u00a0My husband agreed to share his deepest feelings with you, complete strangers. \u00a0Something he would never do if he met you in person. \u00a0But somehow, behind the pages in a book, he thought he was able to hide. \u00a0He knows from the contact I have had, that he is anything but hidden.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1726\" src=\"http:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/arnold-family-outdoors.png?w=300\" alt=\"Arnold family outdoors\" width=\"300\" height=\"241\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/arnold-family-outdoors.png 595w, https:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/arnold-family-outdoors-300x241.png 300w, https:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/arnold-family-outdoors-150x121.png 150w, https:\/\/stephaniearnold.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/arnold-family-outdoors-15x12.png 15w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>So how has what happened to us changed me? \u00a0The facts remain that I am a midwestern housewife, gravity has taken over, in my mid-forties and my skin doesn&#8217;t look as lively as it did when I didn&#8217;t have a care in the world in my 20&#8217;s. \u00a0Moments have deeper meaning for me. \u00a0Every moment. \u00a0Even the uncomfortable ones. \u00a0Jacob is a blessing, a miracle and I have a bond that is unbreakable with him. \u00a0Adina and Valentina are growing girls with strong spirits. \u00a0Ones that I hope to impress upon how much a warrior they can be if thrown\u00a0any obstacles that get in their way. \u00a0Jonathan is and always will be the love of my life. \u00a0He is my soul mate, my care giver, my protector and my breath of fresh air. \u00a0Yes, we annoy each other, but I am grateful for those moments because it means life is trying to get back to normal. \u00a0I laugh less and I cry more, but I feel so alive&#8230; because I am alive. \u00a0I am alive!<\/p>\n<p>Thank you all for making me understand how important that fact is. \u00a0Your support, from strangers, echoes the right message to me, to my family and to everyone reading this blog and our book.<\/p>\n<p>I thank you. \u00a0My family thanks you.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Stephanie<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This was a gift from G-d.
