This is certainly a larger topic than one article can cover, so I will begin on a personal note.<\/p>\n

When your intuition told you to be concerned about something like a health issue, or you had strong premonitions about a health outcome, how did you raise the issue with your health care providers?\u00a0\u00a0If met with indifference or dismissive comments, did you persist and get proper attention?\u00a0 Do you even feel assertive enough to insist? Have you ever kept quiet about a premonition, only to later regret not speaking?\u00a0 I know I am alive today because my doctors took my premonitions seriously<\/strong> <\/a>and adjusted their plans.<\/p>\n

On January 1,\u00a0in speaking with my cousin, we got on the subject of my grandmother, my father’s mother, and her mother’s mother, Grandma Ida Fisch, from Havana, Cuba.\u00a0 We hadn’t discussed her in such detail for years until this day.<\/p>\n

\"Grandma<\/a>We then got on the subject of when she died.\u00a0 My cousin said she wasn’t in high school yet; I said I couldn’t have been 8 because my sister got married then.\u00a0 We went back and forth, trying to determine the year my grandmother died.\u00a0 My cousin then asked her mother, Ruth, who answered\u00a01982 or 1983, on January 1st…today.<\/p>\n

I have always felt my grandmother was a bruja, a good one, but nevertheless one who had intuition and premonitions about things.\u00a0 I often wonder if she had more to do with my survival than not.\u00a0 I wonder if the example she set\u00a0in speaking about her premonitions gave me the confidence to believe in my own and take them seriously.\u00a0 Perhaps in some small way my grandmother, long gone from the face of the earth, had a hand in my survival.<\/p>\n
