The Doctors was an incredible experience.  Dr. Travis and Dr. Rachael Ross were professional,  warm and so caring.  The video is definitely freaking me out.  It hits home a little too closely.  As painful as it is for me, I am acutely aware it is more painful for the families of those who have not survived or the women who have not survived as well as they would have liked.  And for that reason, I will keep spreading the word and work to help keep our message out there.

We don’t yet know what causes AFE (see explainer video/photo below).  We don’t yet know who is more susceptible to getting it.  All we know is it is the second leading cause of maternal death in a country where maternal death seems to get so little notice.  We can change that.  The AFE Foundation needs all of the support and help we can offer.  So please help us spread the word, talk about it and educate others.  You can help save lives.

If you experienced an AFE, I encourage you to get in touch with the AFE Foundation to help them support potentially life saving research into causes and solutions. I would love to hear about the ways in which AFE or surviving a maternity complication has affected your life.  Please share those with me.  By telling our stories, hopefully we can all put an end to this horrific condition.
